How to use Polygon Bridge before a token launch
Bridge funds to Polygon before a launch only if the sale or claim requires them there; confirm the token’s network, keep POL for fees and check eligibility.

Users preparing for a token launch on Polygon can bridge the funds they need from Ethereum to Polygon PoS before the sale or claim opens, then keep POL on Polygon for transaction fees. Polygon Portal lets users select a source and destination network, while Polygon Support says its native bridge locks tokens on Ethereum and issues corresponding tokens on Polygon.
What should you bridge before the launch?
Bridge the asset the project says it accepts, plus enough POL to pay for transactions on Polygon PoS. The project’s launch page or public contract records should specify the sale network, accepted asset, opening time and any eligibility rules; bridging funds alone does not establish eligibility.
Check the token’s network before sending funds. For a fuller explanation of how Polygon Bridge routes depend on the token, see the differences between token support and network support. Polygon Support says users can add a custom token to Portal by entering its Ethereum or Polygon contract address, but that does not make an unsupported asset available for every route.
How do you move funds to Polygon PoS?
Connect a wallet to Polygon Portal, select Ethereum as the source and Polygon PoS as the destination, choose a supported asset and enter the amount. Review the destination and transaction details in the wallet before signing; the Ethereum transaction requires Ethereum gas, and transactions on Polygon PoS require POL, according to Polygon Support.
- Confirm the launch uses Polygon PoS, not another network.
- Use the token contract address published by the project to identify the asset.
- Leave POL available for approval, purchase or claim transactions.
- Check the Portal transaction status and confirm funds arrived before the launch begins.
What should you check if the token is not listed?
A token may be absent because it is new, not yet mapped for the route, or listed under a different contract address. Polygon Support’s custom-token instructions allow users to add a token by contract address, but users should verify that address against the project’s own launch materials and confirm the bridge route supports the token before sending it.
Bridge only what the launch requires, and allow time for the transfer to complete before the sale or claim window. The project’s final eligibility rules, supported token route and launch timing remain unconfirmed until its official materials publish them.
